Ombra mai fu – aria arr. for trombone and piano

“Ombra mai fu” is the opening aria from the 1738 opera Serse (Xerxes) by George Frederic Handel (1685-1759). In the aria, the Persian king Xerxes sings admiringly of a plane tree, “Never was a shade of any plant dearer and more lovely or more sweet.” The aria is popularly known as “Handel’s Largo.”
